Fast Break
The golden rules
Don't rush: On the first day, only liquids and very soft foods.
Small portions: Eat small amounts more often rather than a lot at once.
Skip the carbs: For the first 3 days, avoid sugar, pasta, bread, and fruit (except a few berries on day 3). A sudden insulin spike is very hard on your body at this stage.
Listen to your body: If any food causes cramps or bloating, stop and wait a few hours.
Day 1 – The awakening phase
Only liquids or creamy foods for now, so you don't shock your stomach.
Classic Bone Broth
Well-cooked, fatty broth (without vegetables or noodles). This provides the essential minerals to kickstart digestion.
Miso Soup
Miso paste dissolved in a mug of warm water. The fermented ingredients help repopulate good bacteria in your gut.
Plain Kefir or Yogurt
A small serving (max 3.5–7 fl oz) of plain, sugar-free probiotic drink. Probiotics are incredibly valuable at this stage.
Steamed zucchini and carrots with mashed potatoes
Dice the carrots and zucchini into small pieces and steam them until completely tender. Separately, boil the potatoes and mash them until smooth and creamy, then gently mix in the soft steamed vegetable pieces.
Day 2 – The soft foods phase
Light fats and very soft proteins can now enter the picture.
Soft-boiled Eggs with Avocado
Two 6-minute eggs with half a ripe avocado. Eggs are the best protein source post-fast, and avocado provides easy-to-digest healthy fats.
Steamed Spinach with Butter
Sauté a handful of fresh spinach in a teaspoon of butter with a pinch of salt. It's light on the gut but provides necessary fiber.
Baked White Fish
A small fillet (about 3.5–5 oz) of cod or perch, baked with a little lemon and butter. Fish protein breaks down much easier than chicken or beef.
Day 3 – The stabilizing phase
You can eat almost normally now, but stay on the low-carb track.
Mushroom and Cheese Omelet
Three scrambled eggs with a few sautéed mushrooms and a bit of aged cheese (like cheddar or goat cheese).
Grilled Chicken Breast with Zucchini
A seasoned chicken breast served with pan-seared zucchini strips. Zucchini is excellent now due to its high water content.
Greek Yogurt with Walnuts and Berries
A bowl of full-fat Greek yogurt, a few walnuts, and a handful of blueberries or raspberries. This is your first "sweet" experience, but the fats and fiber keep your insulin stable.
